Why “Meinate”?

μείνατε ἐν ἐμοί

In John 15:4, Jesus tells His disciples meinate en emoi — “abide in me.” To abide is to stay, remain and dwell. It isn't a one-time visit. It's a daily way of living, like a branch that stays connected to the vine.

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”

John 15:4 (KJV)
